Headquartered in Newport Beach, California, with a presence in London, United Kingdom, Syzygy manages approximately $33 billion in assets (as of August 31, 2026), accessed through direct relationships and through partnerships with leading global asset managers.

The thinking behind Syzygy Asset Management did not begin here. It began more than two decades ago at Research Affiliates, founded by Rob Arnott. Research Affiliates built a global reputation for independent thinking about how portfolios are constructed and how risk is understood, giving rise to RAFI Indices, a suite of fundamental index strategies adopted by institutional investors around the world.
In 2026, the RAFI index business was sold to TMX VettaFi, a deliberate choice made from a position of strength to put that business in the hands of a partner built to scale it. That decision allowed the founding leadership team to do what they had always done best: focus entirely on active management, the work that built the firm's reputation in the first place.

That focus is Syzygy Asset Management. A syzygy is the alignment of celestial bodies along a single line, the geometry behind every eclipse. The name reflects the discipline at the center of the firm's approach: independent ideas, signals, and portfolios that arrive, through rigor, in alignment. It is also a statement of belief that when research, conviction, and experience come together with precision, the conditions for differentiated investment thinking are in place.
